Healthy Snacks
Eating healthy snacks can give you a boost of energy to help fuel your body between meals, but what you grab is important! The key to smart snacking is to plan ahead and stock your home, car or desk with lower calorie foods that will fill you up and provide some nutrients.
Here are some healthy ideas for you to consider next time you need a snack.
Healthy Snack Ideas
- Low-fat cheese cubes
- Trail mix
- Yogurt
- Whole-wheat crackers and low-fat string cheese
- Cottage cheese and a small piece of fruit
- Protein shake
- Sugar-free pudding
- Tuna Salad on crackers
These are also good snack ideas, but some patients might have problems depending on their tolerance for certain textures, so chew carefully!!
- Chicken or turkey slices
- Popcorn
- Hard-boiled eggs
- Protein bar
- Deli meat or low-fat cheese with a whole-wheat tortilla shell
The trick to healthy snacking is to be prepared and get creative. Try planning ahead so the healthy snack is at hand when you need it.
